Help us to maintain our services
Covid-19 has presented many challenges and like so many organisations, the Coeliac Society of Ireland is currently adapting to ensure that the services provided to our members and those we represent are maintained.
There are around 50,000 people with coeliac disease in Ireland, and an additional 350,000 who suffer from gastro problems related to gluten intolerance. The Coeliac Society provides support and advice to our members and also to this wider community.
Unfortunately, the restrictions put in place as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic means that our fundraising activity has all but dried up! The money we had planned to raise is essential for helping to keep our phone lines open, for producing the annual Food List of gluten free products, for providing support and advice for members, including in-house dietetic resources, and much more.
Without funding, we will struggle to maintain our services. This is a particular concern because more than 400 of our older members are cocooning and many others have underlying conditions that make them more vulnerable to infectious diseases such as Covid-19.
For now, we are continuing to operate as normally as is possible under the circumstances. Staff are manning our phone lines from home, and we are working hard to provide up-to-date information and support that is relevant to our members and those suffering from gluten intolerance.
We need your help to make sure we can be here not only today but also tomorrow and the day after that. By donating a small amount now, we can make it go a long way!
The Coeliac Society is experiencing unprecedented levels of activity on our phone lines and social media channels. Our staff are working hard to ensure that our members and others most affected by the coronavirus outbreak will continue to have access to the information and support that is needed.
In order to maintain our Food Lists and provide reassurance about the food coeliacs need to maintain a gluten-free diet, we are also staying in touch with retailers and food producers.
All this costs and without funds it will not be possible to continue for too long. We ask that you click below to make a donation that will support our staff to work for you all, amidst the upheaval and uncertainty brought on by COVID-19.
