We know that eating out can be difficult for someone with coeliac disease. It can be hard to have confidence when handing over food preparation responsibility to someone else. While the situation has improved in recent years, we know that more needs to be done to improve the quality and choice available.
With this is mind we are delighted to announce our partnership with Unilever Food Solutions on the Knorr Gluten Free Guide. Aimed at the catering industry, the guide provides comprehensive information around the preparation of safe gluten free food. In addition to innovative recipes the guide features an introduction from the Coeliac Society of Ireland. The Guide was produced in association with Unilever following research to better understand gaps in knowledge among the industry regarding gluten free food preparation.
This is the first step in the Society’s plans to engage much more closely with the foodservices industry. Later this year, we plan to publish a Food List specifically for the catering industry and to encourage restaurants all over Ireland to commit to offering a coeliac-friendly dining experience.
