blood test query

Postby Mariea » Wed Apr 01, 2009 8:50 am

Hi,

I am getting my bloods checked tomorrow (thyriod function, full blood count etc...) and am wondering should I get tested for those coeliac antibodies. Im not sure if this is correct....from what I understand, the fact that I am totally GF for 5 months (- to the day, woohooo!! :D ) the antibodies should not be present in my blood anymore, is this the way it works??
Also, is it the norm to get this blood test done after being GF for a while to see if the diet is working?

Thnaks,
:)

It is recommended to get the bloods done once a year to check that there is no gluten creeping into your diet by accident and to make sure you are responding well to the gluten free diet. Since you are getting other bloods done anyway, it couldn't be any harm to include the various CD bloods as well.
