New to This
I just found out yesterday when I rang my consultant gastroenterologist for my coeliac blood tests results that I'm positive. Finally, I can give my problems a name after months of tests and worry.
Now, do I wait til I see my consultant for my biopsy results or do I start a GF diet? I'm a single mum working full time and barely had time to eat as it was and now have to have a special diet. Its scary both from a new thinking point of view and also financially. My local Tesco & Dunnes dont have much of a GF section - no bread or flour as I thought I'd make my own. Anyone live in the Clonee / D15 area who could help please? I plan to join this society and get all the info I can but in the meantime, any advice would be appreciated.

you should get the food list from joining the society it is the little green book full of the products you can eat safely. you can also look up ecodirect.ie who deliver gf food to you and if you are busy like me that is a lifesaver. a lot of gf food can be got in health food stores. it's a lot better these days and gest better all the time.
Hi Cinders,
At least now you know for sure so you can start to work on gettin better.
I got my biospy 3 weeks ago and went on a GF diet straight away, even before the biopsy results came back. They came back last week positive for CD, as I had expected, as like you, my bloods were positive.
Its really up to you whether you want to on GF diet now or wait the 2 weeks for the result.
I know that the GF food is more expensive but I have been bulking up my dinners with rice/potatoes and veg. There are alot of Dunnes Stores own sauces (good for stir fries which are quick to make eg. curry, black bean etc..) that are GF so are not overly priced. So if you shop around you can keep the costs down.
I started to make my own home made soups now one evening of the week, when I have time. They last a few days in the fridge so if your in a hurry you can have it for dinner. Once again you can bulk them up with veg/potatoes if you want. Sometimes I put them into containers and freeze them. You can take them out if you dont have time to cook/make lunch some day.
Im only new to this myself, but from my short experience Ive realised that you just have to plan most meals ahead all the time
Hope that your doing OK with it all
