Culinary Delights for Fundraising Night

Dinner guests at Deborah's fundraiser

We would like to say a big thank you to Deborah Harpur who came up with a marvelous initiative to raise some funds for the Coeliac Society of Ireland.

Deborah’s ten year old son is coeliac and a member of the Society. Since he joined she has always wanted to do something to raise money and she came up with the idea to open her home up as a restaurant for the night, asking the guests to pay for their meal and drinks.

With a lot of organizing, rounding up raffle prizes, cooking the food – with a bit of help from friend and chef Derek Yu - and setting her house up as a restaurant, Deborah raised an enormous €1,200 for the Society. She is a true inspiration, and proves that thinking outside the box can have marvelous rewards. She is very grateful to her family who got stuck in, being the waiters, waitresses and even providing live music long into the night!

Deborah is hoping that her idea may take off and would like to recommend the experience to any members that feel they have what it takes to hold an entertaining fundraiser. Any support we can give from the Society will also be on hand.

We would like to give a very warm thank you to Deborah Harpur and her family for their hard work for the society. See photos from the day here...
